FICO Eataly World opened its doors to 400 students from elementary to high school and awarded the winners of its contest “Waiting for FICO… at School – Emilia-Romagna”.

680 students, 31 classes, and 16 different schools of the Emilia-Romagna region have participated to the first edition of the contest “Waiting for FICO… at school – Emilia-Romagna”, promoted by FICO Foundation for Education and Sustainability, Eataly World and the Emilia-Romagna Regional School Office, for the academic year 2016-2017.

Boys and girls from elementary to high school unleashed their creativity with photo-reportages, videos, and games dedicated to food and its production chain, from field to fork.

On the morning of May 19th 2017, the award-giving ceremony took place, for the first time, on the actual construction site of FICO Eataly World, the world’s largest agri-food park opening later this Fall. The primary aim of this contest is to promote the importance of a proper nutrition among children and young people, and to attract attention on issues such as food education, good and healthy practices and respect for the environment.

The president of FICO Foundation Andrea Segrè, FICO Eataly World’s CEO Tiziana Primori, along with Regional Councilor for Agriculture Simona Caselli, Director of Office III of the Emilia-Romagna Regional School Office Chiara Brescianini, and Head of Strategic Projects at Città della Scienza in Naples Gianfranco Nappi, happily delivered the prizes to the 400 kids and youngsters at FICO Eataly World.

“Promoting food education among the younger generations is of pivotal importance in terms of prevention”, said Andrea Segrè. “That’s why we should all put much more effort in fostering a more comprehensive food education campaign starting from our schools and classrooms”.

“We want people from all over the world to approach food more consciously”, added Tiziana Primori. “FICO is a training ground for healthy food consumption and sustainability, and we are deeply intertwined with the territory. We feel extremely proud to welcome here, today, hundreds of children, young boys and girls, teachers, and headmasters who enthusiastically participated to our contest.  They are the key to our future”.

Everything is now ready for “Waiting for FICO… at school – Campania “the second award-giving ceremony of the same contest dedicated to the Campania region, taking place on June, 1st at Città della Scienza in Naples.
